This Cookie Policy explains how bmicalculatoronline.info (the “Site”), operated by James Donald, uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.
What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and scripts that recognise your browser or device. Some are set by the website you visit (first-party) and some by other companies, such as advertisers (third-party).
How the Site Uses Them
Strictly Necessary
These keep the Site working and secure, for example cookies that WordPress sets when an administrator logs in. Ordinary visitors do not need to log in to use the calculator.
Preferences (Browser Local Storage)
The BMI calculator saves your unit and category cut-off choices in your browser’s local storage under the names bmic-hunit, bmic-wunit and bmic-set. This information stays on your device, is never sent to us and contains no height, weight or age values.
Advertising
We show, or plan to show, ads through Google AdSense and other third-party advertising partners. These partners may set cookies (for example Google cookies such as __gads, __gpi and IDE) to show ads, personalise them based on your browsing, limit repeat ads and measure results. Where the law requires it, these cookies are only used after you give consent.
Analytics
We may use analytics services, such as Google Analytics, which set cookies (for example _ga) to help us understand how visitors use the Site.
Third-Party Content
The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts and a script from Hostinger Reach, our email marketing provider. These requests share your IP address with those providers, and Hostinger Reach may use cookies or local storage to operate sign-up forms.
How to Control Cookies
- Consent tools: where a cookie consent banner is shown, you can accept or reject non-essential cookies and change your choice later.
- Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work.
- Personalised ads: manage Google ads at Google My Ad Center, and opt out of many other ad vendors at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Google Analytics: you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the Site or the services it uses change. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
